CourseWorks collects information necessary to operate and support the platform within an educational and institutional context. This includes three primary categories of information: information provided directly by users, such as account details or content submitted through the platform; usage and analytics data related to site activity, including interactions with features and system performance; and, when applicable, institutional or administrative data supplied by participating institutions to support platform implementation, access management, and administration. This information is collected and used solely to support authorized educational purposes and in accordance with applicable institutional agreements and privacy requirements.

Information collected by CourseWorks is used to operate and maintain the platform, support instructional and administrative functionality, conduct research and analysis, and improve courseware and related services over time. This includes using information to ensure system performance and security, support authorized institutional use, enhance learning tools and features, and inform ongoing development in alignment with educational goals and institutional requirements.

CourseWorks applies reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. Information is retained only for as long as necessary to support platform functionality, meet institutional or legal obligations, and fulfill its intended educational and operational purposes, after which it is securely deleted or de-identified in accordance with applicable requirements.
